plantin

man I am just writing tonight to say I love being involved in a church plant.

I have been in youth ministry for almost 6 years and even though things are unpredictable, I have the smallest group I have ever had and we meet in a stinkin school with no designated "youth space"

See normally I would think poorly of all those things, but you know what, they are all cool now. Its great to have a cool school that will host you and then let you visit during the week.

Its cool to never know what is going to happen, this even helps you keep focus, because there are alot of days that you flat can't give a message because you are in a hall next to a bathroom where for some reason the bathroom keeps flushing with nobody in there. Then when things go well you cant be like "well I did it again" its so obvious God handles His business and you are just along for the ride.

the smallest group thing maybe the best element there is. you KNOW every kid. every kid can have a chance to talk to you. and they grow together as this group comes together from nothing to become this vibrant living thing.

not saying that traditional/established churches are bad

just saying that I am really enjoying the ride of on the move, church plant ministry

holla back

Preston, we're in a similar situation at Grace Church out in Overland Park, KS.

Thanks for the reminder of the benefits of being a church on the move. Setting up, tearing down, renting a school, being a slave to the school schedule can be wearing.

Thanks again for reminding us of the great blessings God actually has given us. To even have a school willing to open it's doors week in and out, plus meet during the week is a great.

I'm sending my youth directors to your blog.

Later!
